SENIORS League Expands Summer Opportunities

UpdatedMonday February 17, 2020 byBeth Jones.

Arlington Senior Babe Ruth Baseball is expanding opportunities in 2020 for community-based baseball in its Seniors League.

The Seniors League is forming teams for practices and competitive games against Arlington teams and other Senior Babe Ruth teams in the Northern Virginia area, including McLean. All players ages 16-18 are welcome, including players on high school teams. Register by clicking on the banner at the top of the HOME page.

Seniors League teams will begin practices and games in late April. We will form an additional team or adjust rosters on existing teams to accommodate players who want to continue to play baseball this spring and summer after the high school teams complete their seasons in May.

The Seniors also will field an All-Stars Team, to be coached by Dan Pototsky. The All-Stars will compete in the annual summer tournament trail beginning with the local District series, and an opportunity to qualify for a State Tournament (weekend of July 9 in Manassas, VA) and perhaps a Regional Tournament (July 17-21 in Fredericksburg, VA).

The All-Stars also will participate in competitive local tournaments.

A baseline of participation in house league is required in order to be eligible for the All Stars. Although we anticipate there will be some flexibility, we expect all interested players to make firm commitments as to their availability for All-Stars events before the team is formed. A separate fee is required for All-Stars.

The Seniors League is for 16-18-year-olds, any player born prior to May 1, 2004 and on or after January 1, 2001.
